What are features of your home that you've really enjoyed?

We fell in love with the property because of the large, private yard. You really feel like you’re sitting in the country when downtown Indy and Broad Ripple are only 15 minutes away. The house has huge windows that provide sweeping views of the garden and tons of natural light. There is a huge, fenced-in vegetable and herb garden in the back that produces some of the best Indiana tomatoes we’ve ever tasted. The soil has been amazing as we’ve enjoyed cucumbers, bell peppers, squash, tomatoes, eggplant, and a variety of herbs. We love to cook, so our favorite room in the house is the brand new custom kitchen. There is a beautiful Italian gas range with brass detail, large farmhouse sink, soft-close cabinets with hidden inner drawers, handmade terra cotta tile from California, and Restoration Hardware brass sconces and brass cabinets pulls. It’s gorgeous, functional, and unlike any kitchen you’re going to find in most houses. No expense was spared in the design and we’ve received TONS of compliments. Lastly, we love the encapsulated crawl space because many homes have dirty/unhealthy crawls and we’ve had peace of mind knowing that ours is clean, dry, and ultimately the air quality and integrity of the house is safeguarded.  

What can you tell us about your neighborhood?

Wynnedale is truly a hidden gem in Indianapolis! We were unfamiliar with the area until we drove there to see our house and I knew I wanted to live there before we even got to the property. It’s nestled along the White River, so it’s not uncommon to see deer, fox, rabbits, and a variety of birds in and around the neighborhood. We live on the original, historic loop of Wynnedale and we’re surrounded by beautiful, unique homes and mansions. The neighborhood is quiet, extremely safe, and everyone knows each other very well. The loop is about half of a mile which makes for a perfect after dinner stroll, and it’s not uncommon to be flagged down for cocktails by a neighbor. Wynnedale has a town directory, website, newsletter, and town historian so you always feel very connected and in the know. There are also great parties. The Wynnedale 4th of July block party is something that can’t be missed and I love dressing up for the annual ladies tea at Christmas. We enjoy being outside as much as possible, so we’ve really been grateful that we can walk or ride bikes to the Fitness Farm and get in a workout, play tennis, or pick up some fresh produce from the farmer’s market. Many of the neighborhood kids enjoy riding their bike there and playing with each other. Wynnedale is really an idyllic place unlike any other neighborhood in Indy. 

Where do you love to eat?

Our favorite weekend brunch spots are Milktooth and The Garden Table and we often have dinner and drinks at Livery, Vida, Mama Carolla’s, or Bakersfield. We can be downtown in less than 15 minutes and because we’re so close to Broad Ripple and downtown it’s very affordable to take an Uber for a night out. 

Grocery stores and other conveniences?

We shop at Whole Foods, Fresh Thyme in Broad Ripple, and we’re surrounded by home improvement stores, gas stations, and drug stores if we ever need something in a pinch. 

What other things do you love or enjoy about the area?Image title

It’s so peaceful and full of wildlife. What I love most is how safe and secure I feel in the neighborhood. Everyone watches out for everyone and the only traffic on the road is people who live there. We adore our neighbors, both Butler grads, and their 1-year old son and new puppy. It’s really been like hitting the neighbor lottery. 

Anything else? Neighborhood amenities?

Bird Sanctuary, Fitness Farm, Community Garden Day. A dumpster is provided for free a few times a year so that you can do deep cleaning and get rid of bigger items. We’ve definitely taken advantage of that.
