While national brands like Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts are well-established in the Greater Indianapolis area, there are still plenty of lesser-known coffee shops that are just as good if not better. Hamilton County, in particular, has a number of really great small coffee shops.

Mama Bear’s Bakery and Café

Located in the Geist area of Fishers, Mama Bear’s Bakery and Café is a favorite stop for many of eastern Hamilton County locals. It offers Hubbard and Craven’s Coffee, a premium coffee brand that is not easy to find. In addition to coffee, Mama Bear’s has breakfast sandwiches, soups, baked treats and salads. Located on Brooks School Road, Mama Bear’s Bakery and Café is open every single day of the week. On weekdays, it opens at 6:30am, making it the perfect place to stop before a busy workday. It closes shop at 5:00pm. On weekend days, it opens at 7:30am and closes at 3:00pm.

Noble Coffee and Tea Company

A Noblesville staple, Noble Coffee and Tea Company has been in operation since the spring of 1996. It is located right in the heart of Noblesville and owned by coffee extraordinaire James Howard. Like all coffee shops, Noble Coffee and Tea Company has its fair share of coffee selections, but it also serves pastries, bagels, wine and beer. Noble Coffee and Tea Company has coffee selections that are fair trade, bird-friendly certified, organic and Rainforest Alliance certified. It has an area of the store that just sells tea too. There are over 100 different types of tea available for sale.

While Fishers residents can find Hubbard and Craven’s coffee at Mama Bear’s, Carmel residents can go straight to the source. Hubbard and Craven’s has a location in the Carmel City Center. Its coffee is sourced from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Colombia. This coffee shop is open every single day of the week between 7:30am and 4:30pm, and it serves both breakfast and lunch. Breakfast food items are available from open through close. On weekend days, it has a special brunch menu that is certain to please visitors.

Zing Café

Conveniently located in ritzy Village of West Clay, Zing Café is another great coffee shop option for Carmel residents. It has an exceptional selection of expresso beverages, baked goods, breakfast sandwiches and salads available in addition to coffee. It opens at 7:00am and closes at 4:30pm during the week. On weekends, it is open between 8:00am and 2:00pm. Zing Café is a great option for catering. It has muffins, bagels, salads and sandwiches all available in packages for catering.
