Indianapolis Area Ice Skating Rinks

During the winter, ice skating becomes an extremely popular pastime in Indianapolis. It is a great place to go for family and company outings alike. There are many excellent ice skating arenas throughout the Greater Indianapolis area, particularly on the North Side. 


Arctic Zone Iceplex

Located in Westfield on Southpark Drive, Arctic Zone Iceplex has open, public ice skating at various times throughout the year. Around Christmas, it is open almost every day. The Arctic Zone Iceplex‚Äôs website has a full listing of public skating times. Visitors should check the site before heading to the ice rink. Typically, public skating occurs during the afternoon hours. Occasionally, they also have cosmic skating in the evening. Public skating rates are $7.25 for adults and $6.00 for kids under the age of 10. Cosmic skating costs $9.00. Ice skates can be rented for just $3.00. Arctic Zone Iceplex has birthday packages starting at $145.00. 


Fuel Tank at Fishers

Located off of 126th Street in Fishers, Fuel Tank is another ice rink with public skating in Hamilton County. Monday through Friday, they have public skating between noon and 2:00pm. On Saturdays and Sundays, their public skating starts and 1:00pm and ends at 3:00pm. On both Friday and Saturday, Fuel Tank has a second public skating session between 7:30pm and 9:30pm. They have a calendar on their website because they may have last-minute changes to their public skating schedule. Skating fees cost between $6.00 and $8.00, and ice skates can be rented for $4.00.


Pepsi Coliseum

Pepsi Coliseum, at the heart of the Indiana State Fairgrounds, has public skating as well. The Indiana State Fairgrounds are located on East 38th Street. Ice skating costs just $6.00 for adults and children at least four years of age. Kids three year old and younger are admitted for free. Parking at the State Fairgrounds costs $5.00, and figure skates can be rented for $4.00. Hockey skates are also available for $5.00. During the week, public skating occurs between 3:00pm and 5:00pm. On Saturdays, it occurs between 2:30pm and 4:30pm. On Saturdays and Fridays, there is a second public skate session that starts at 7:30pm and ends at 9:30pm. On Sundays, there is public skating between 1:00pm and 3:00pm. 


Carmel Ice Skadium

Carmel also has its ice skating rink in town. The Carmel Ice Skadium is located on 3rd Avenue. Its public skating typically begins at noon, but visitors should check the website before heading over. Occasionally, Carmel Ice Skadium has evening skating or cosmic skating. Like Arctic Zone Iceplex, public skating costs $7.25 for adults and $6.00 for children nine years old and younger. Cosmic skating is $9.00, and skates can be rented for just $3.00. Birthday packages at the Carmel Ice Skadium start at just $145.
