Here Are Your Butler And IUPUI Schedules
This time of year, people are generally thinking about football. However, believe it or not, college basketball is slightly more than a month away. Indianapolis' two Division 1 College Basketball programs, Butler and IUPUI, have exciting home schedules this year. Northsiders should consider checking out the Bulldogs and the Jaguars sometime this season.
For the 2017-2018 season, Butler will host 19 different teams at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Their first two matchups are exhibition games, and they are against Hanover College and Lincoln Memorial on October 28th and November 4th, respectively. The first real game of the season at Hinkle is on November 10th, and it is against Kennesaw State. After the Kennesaw State matchup, the Bulldogs host Princeton on November 12th. Butler will then be on the road for a while, and they will return to Hinkle on December 2nd when they host Saint Louis. On the back end of a home-and-home series, Utah will come to Indianapolis on December 5th, and Youngstown State comes a few days later on December 9th. The Bulldogs will head to Downtown Indianapolis for a quick neutral-site game against the Purdue Boilermakers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on December 16th. They will then finish their non-conference season against Morehead State and Western Illinois on December 19th and December 21st, resepctively. The conference season will be equally busy at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The Bulldogs host Villanova on December 30th in, presumably, the most exciting home matchup of the season. A few days later, Seton Hall comes to Hinkle on January 6th. Closing out January, Marquette and St. John's come to Indianapolis for games on the 12th and 27th, respectively. For February, Butler has games on the 3rd, 6th, 13th and 17th against DePaul, Xavier, Georgetown and Providence, respectively. Senior Day, the last home game of the season, is against Creighton, and it is scheduled for February 20th.
As of the middle of September, IUPUI has not yet released its non-conference schedule. Presumably, IUPUI will be away from home for a large portion of its non-conference season, however. That said, IUPUI has released its schedule for its conference season. This year, the Jaguars are facing tougher competition because they joined the Horizon League in the off-season. IUPUI's first home conference game is against the UIC Flames on January 4th. They then face UW-Milwaukee, Green Bay and Detroit Mercy on January 10th, 12th and 16th, respectively. For a few weeks, the Jags are on the road. They invite Cleveland State and Youngstown State to Indiana Farmers Coliseum on February 8th and 10th, respectively. They finish their season off at home against Northern Kentucky on February 25th after facing Oakland on February 19th and Wright State on February 23rd.
