Connor Prairie is a large, hands-on attraction in Fishers that recreates the life of rural 1800s. Throughout the year, Connor Prairie hosts a series of great events, perfect for families with kids of all ages. The summer and early fall of 2016 are no different. Northside residents should consider checking out the Curiosity Fair, the Symphony on the Prairie and the Festival of Machines in the upcoming months.Image title  

Curiosity Fair

The Curiosity Fair is an upcoming event held at Connor Prairie on Saturday, June 11th, and Sunday, June 12th. Kids and adults alike are invited to Connor Prairie to explore the many wonders of Earth during this two-day event. Connor Prairie visitors can learn about academic disciplines like chemistry, geology, archeology and astronomy through a series of hands-on, kid-friendly lectures and demonstrations. Many local sports celebrities will be in attendance as well. Blue, the Colt’s mascot, will be signing books between 1:30pm and 2:30pm on both days. The Indianapolis Indians will be at Connor Prairie on June 11th as well. Admission to all of the Curiosity Fair events is included with regular Connor Prairie admission. Admission is just $17.00 for adults and $12.00 for kids between the ages of two and 12. Children under the age of two are admitted to Connor Prairie free of charge. Image title

Symphony on the Prairie

For a significant portion of the summer, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra performs at Connor Prairie. Attendees can sit out on the lawn and enjoy a variety of wonderful music. This summer, on June 24th and June 25th, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra will have a special tribute to the late David Bowie. These performances will both start at 8:00pm. In addition to these two concerts, there are performances that recreate the music of John Williams, ABBA, Toto, Mozart and many other famous musicians and musical artists. Tickets can be purchased at all Greater Indianapolis Marsh Supermarket locations. Tickets can also be purchased on the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s website. They typically cost around $27.00 for adults and $13.00 for kids.

The Festival of Machines is a great event that arrives on Connor Prairie on Saturday, September 17th. As a two-day event, it is also held on Sunday, September 18th. This event is a large gathering of vintage and classic automobiles, aircrafts, boats and motorcycles of all shapes and sizes. During this event, attendees will have the opportunity to see vintage fire trucks, tractors and military vehicles, ride in a hovercraft and take a spin in a soap box derby car. Like the Curiosity Fair, the Festival of Machines is included with regular Connor Prairie admission. General admission to Connor Prairie on these dates is $17.00 for adults, $12.00 for kids two to 12 years of age and free for children under the age of two.
